Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 4 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone taking part in a Putorana expedition organised by New Explorers.
Risks
The expeditions take place in remote wilderness north of the Arctic Circle, far from medical facilities and rescue services. Trekking on rough and uneven terrain, river crossings, changeable weather and encounters with wild animals involve risks that can't be completely eliminated. By taking part, you acknowledge these risks and accept them.
Health and fitness
By taking part, you confirm that you are in good health and fit enough for several hours of trekking a day — and, for the Khoysi River Trek, for several days of trekking while carrying your own gear. Before the trip, you agree to tell us about any medical condition, allergy or medication that could matter for your safety, and to bring your own supply of any medication you take.
Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance covering the whole expedition is required to take part.
Documents and permits
You are responsible for having a valid passport and a Russian visa. Once the group is confirmed, we apply for everyone's permits together; you agree to provide the information needed for the permits in time.
The guide's decisions
Safety comes first. The guide may change routes, the schedule or activities because of weather, terrain, the condition of the group or any other circumstances, and participants agree to follow the guide's instructions during the expedition.
Conduct
Participants are expected to respect the group, the local people and the place itself. Anyone whose behaviour puts their own safety, the safety of others or the group at risk may be excluded from activities or from the expedition.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, New Explorers is not liable for loss, injury, damage, delays or additional costs caused by events beyond its reasonable control — such as weather and natural events, flight delays or cancellations, or decisions of the authorities — or by a participant not following the guide's instructions. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Personal information
How your personal information is handled is explained in the Privacy Policy.
